INDECT is a research project focused on development of innovative techniques and algorithms for combating terrorism and other criminal activities threatening the citizens of the European Union.
The project is performed by a group of 17 European partners under the leadership of the AGH – University of Science and Technology in Krakow. The main Coordinator of the project is prof. Andrzej Dziech. The project consortium consists of 11 universities, 4 companies and 2 potential users (Police Service of Northern Ireland and Polish Police).
INDECT is realized in the scope of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Union, under the theme „Increasing the security of citizens”. INDECT research area has been identified by FP7 as: „Intelligent urban environment observation” (SEC-2007-1.2-01). Work on the project started on 1 January 2009 and will last until 31 December 2013.
